Golf – why this is my favourite game…

Golf - My favourite past time...

Initially, I shared same opinion with non golfers that golf is a 'stupid' game... Place a ball on a tee, hit it far. There after you walk towards your golf ball and hit it far away again, then chase the ball again etc... Some more you play under the hot sun, heavy rain etc in Malaysia...

Somehow or rather, it was fated that I had to pick up this game more than 10 years ago due to business/work requirement... from engaging pro to buying all necessary apparels and equipment which costs me more than 10k then, I slowly started going to the green...

In the first few games, I didn’t enjoy it much due to scorching heat and mainly due to unable to hit the ball properly... But once you managed to swing the ball properly, that’s where you start to hook on it...

This game is a game where you actually compete against yourself... You are competing against your own capability in controlling your emotion, mental, body movement etc towards approaching your game... when you fail, you fail against the above... this in return make you determine to play again to overcome your previous ‘failure’/mistakes

Another aspect, this game is also exposing ones true character... that’s why quite a number of people like to discuss business over the golf game...

By playing the game with your flight mate, you can see their honesty, temperament, wills/determination towards achieving their goals, etiquette, considerations towards others etc... You will also see whether they are sincere in their friendship with you... (How? Too much for me to elaborate here) Through this experience, I learned a lot and because of this, I still enjoy playing golf till to date even though not as frequent as before...

Other than the above, this is also an opportunity for me to relax, release all the stress, get a bit of exercise & enjoy the beautiful scenery/environment...

Talking about scenery or particularly golf course overall, well nothing beats experience playing golf in Indonesia... For me (as a man, Muslim & Malay), I would rate the best course by countries as follows; Indonesia, Malaysia, China, Thailand, Australia, US, Middle East & Europe...

Indonesia had amongst the best layout & most beautiful golf courses in the world... designed mostly by top golfers in the world, it was well maintained due to labour intensive engaged in maintaining the course... This was followed by excellent hospitality, pleasant/friendly lady caddie, reasonable fee, nice weather, excellent food & last but not least, easier communication... To me they have a complete package... oh ya, not to mentioned great traditional massage & spa treatment which suits best after your long hard day in golf course...

Some ladies/wife reading this may think negatively when you read the caddie, massage & spa, but honestly, it was ‘clean’... in fact, there are a lot of ladies golfers too and these ladies do share same opinion...

At the end of the day, in anything we do, there’s always good and bad element, it is all depending on how we approach it... just like money... you can use all your money to do good deed or for bad things... same thing like golf activities...

Damn, get myself diverted... back to golf topic...

Actually, golf also had huge potential to children... with huge sponsorship & following worldwide, it was in deed a very good option for children who wish to make it as a career... all they need is a proper training, technically & mentally... mental strength is very crucial to succeed in golf... well, I think I should not dwell so much on this as otherwise will take me forever to explain...

On amateur level, most golfers also enjoy a lot by participating in friendly corporate tournament... my boss for instance, had virtually furnished his house by participating in such tournament... you just name it, he won LCD/Plasma TV, DVD/VCD player, washing machine, dryer, iron, fridge, CD player, Home Theatre etc on top of cash, flight tickets, holiday vouchers, golf apparels and so on...

As for me, I had fair share of it too despite of not seriously into it...

I think, I started going off topic...better log off now... bye & enjoy some of the photos
